Dr. Anthony DeSantis is the Associate Dean of Students at the University of Florida. The Associate Dean of Students reports directly to the Associate Vice President/Dean of Students and provides leadership to the following functional areas in the Dean of Students Office: human resources, training, assessment, budget, marketing, technology, and medical withdrawals. The Associate Dean also provides supervision for staff in the Collegiate Veterans Success Center and Disability Resource Center. The Associate Dean acts as a student advocate on issues, concerns, and problems related to student life and will provide general advising to individual students and student groups. In addition, the Associate Dean of Students provides emergency assistance to students, parents, faculty and others in crisis situations; develops liaison relationships with various offices and departments; serves on university, division and department committees; and interprets University policy to students, student groups, faculty, staff, parents and the general public.
Anthony received his Ph.D. in Conflict Resolution and Analysis from Nova Southeastern University, Masters of Science in Higher Education Administration, and Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science from Barry University. Anthony served as the National President of Alpha Delta Gamma National Fraternity from 1996-2000, worked as the Assistant Manager of the Corporate Fitness Center at Burger King World Headquarters from 1996-1998, and was a Career Counselor from 1999-2000 at Barry University. Prior to serving as the Associate Dean of Students, Anthony was the Director of Housing (2005-2010), Marketing Coordinator of the Masters of College Student Affairs program (2007-2010), Assistant Director of Housing (2002-2005), and Assistant Director of Career Services (2000-2002) at Nova Southeastern University. Anthony recently served as the Florida State Director for the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) and is a recipient of the 2012 NASPA Mid-Level Student Affairs Professional Award. Anthony currently services on the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) Region III board as a NASPA Foundation Ambassador and is the advisor of the Campus Diplomats in the Dean of Students Office.
