Jinyu Shao grew up in a rural area of the southeastern part of China. Ever since she can remember, she's been learning about the importance of education. Virlany Taboda

Major: Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management

“The Florida Opportunity Scholars Program gave me financial freedom, and allowed me to be on the same fiscal level as the other students at UF," she said. "After serving as Student Body Treasurer and managing a budget of more than 13 million dollars, I’m confident I can take on any challenge."

Virlany is in graduate school for Public Administration at Rutgers University in New Jersey.
