My name is Thai Lam, and I’m a senior studying Biological engineering from Sarasota, Florida. I lived with my mom in Sarasota for 14 years after moving to the United States at the age of 7 from Vietnam. My dad passed away in 2006 so my mom and I had to support ourselves. My mother’s highest level of education is a high school degree but she trained with my aunt to become a nail technician. My mom is now the manager of a store.

Maurielle Yao

Maurielle Yao is a 4th year Finance major with a minor in Real Estate. As Vice President of Professional Development of Florida Women, Maurielle helped coordinate an event called Savings in the Swamp. This event offered tips on how to save money now in order to attain long-term financial goals. Representatives from Bank of America and other student organizations helped teach students on how to be financially savvy during college.
